Founded in 1980 by Donald Muyllea cabinet-maker, and his wife Yvette Claeys, the business took root in an old barn in Oekene, Roeselare. The innovative concept behind Dovy was to produce high-quality kitchens at an affordable price by cutting out the middleman. In 1981, barely a year after its creation, the first showroom opened in Roeselare, displaying just four kitchens. In addition, Dovy Keukens took a competitive lead in 1989 by incorporating a natural stone department, enabling customers to choose their stone worktops directly at the factory. Expansion continued with the opening of numerous other showrooms throughout Flanders, including cities such as Brugge, Gent, and Mechelen. Today, the factory covers an area of 37,000 m², and the network of showrooms has grown to an impressive 20, with the opening of the world's largest showroom. in Tienen in 2015.

Donald Muylle's reputation is due not only to his expertise, but also to a distinctive advertising campaign in which he presented himself in the West Flemish dialect, a strategy that made a lasting impression.
